Last year, Wangler played tight end and a rover-outside linebacker spot, and with the added strength and size he's put on in the weight room, defense appears to be where he's headed in college.
"That's the thing, a lot of them in the summer mostly talked about safety because they liked my footwork for my size. I've put on weight, gotten a lot bigger lifting wise and I'm up to 210-215, but my footwork stayed the same. Coach Coombs (Ohio State) said they're starting to think of me more as an outside linebacker. That's where Toledo sees me at and Akron."
The Buckeyes first showed Wangler interest at last summer's Sound Mind Sound Body Camp and have remained in contact since then.
"I like Coach Coombs a lot from Ohio State. I talk to him quite a bit. I'm going down to visit the 14th, 15th, and 16th."
Wangler has already taken one visit, to Toledo for their junior day a couple weeks back.
"It was good. I had some good feedback from the coaches. Coach Saia, I talked to him a lot. He said they really like my film and want me to get back down sometime in the spring for a spring practice. I talked to the head coach (Matt Campbell) and he said he's been hearing lot of good things."
"Michigan State came in and invited me to one of their spring practices."
